A native of Mountain View, California, Sheila Townsend began her performing career early with Peninsula Youth Theatre, American Conservatory Theatre’s Young Conservatory Program, Foothill Music Theatre and Mountain View High School’s choral and drama departments. She received a Bachelor's of Music in Musical Theatre (Magna Cum Laude) at the esteemed Bass School of Music at Oklahoma City University.
Sheila is an enthusiastic teacher and performer who loves to share her passion for music and musical performance while encouraging technical excellence and individual artistic expression. Adept at teaching classical, musical theatre and contemporary music, her students are regularly recognized in the community as talented musicians who are both incredible soloists and excellent ensemble members. Whether you're wanting to land the leading role in your middle school show, auditioning for colleges, working in the industry, singing in the shower or just enjoying retirement, voice lessons with Sheila can help you advance your vocal prowess and find joy in making beautiful music.
Sheila keeps herself quite busy as a full-time performer and private voice teacher at her own Upper Floor Studio. She also enjoys doing vocal direction and master classes for local schools and theatre companies. Past projects include providing vocal direction for productions at Monte Vista High School, Saratoga High School, Los Alto Stage Company, California Theatre Center, and Los Altos Youth Theatre.
An avid participant in the local performing arts with firsthand knowledge of the music industry and the musical theater scene, Sheila Townsend enjoys sharing her knowledge of the Bay Area performing arts world with her students. Locally she has performed with Foothill Music Theatre, California Theatre Center and Los Altos Stage Company as well as numerous public and private events. To date, her favorite role is that of “Wife” to Mr. Townsend which opened October 2011. :)
